Regular season and tournament volleyball champion Carroll County headlined the recently announced 2009 All-Southwest District Volleyball team determined by the leagues’ head coaches. Cavalier player Maleia Neely was named as Player of the Year and Carroll County coach Cindy Edwards was honored as Coach of the Year. Three Lady Cavaliers made the First Team. Marion, Richlands and Tazewell had one player each on the First Team. Lady Blues’ senior setter Cassie Ringstaff and Tazewell’s Cara Cecil were named to the First Team. Morgan Hill of Richlands and Tazewell’s Lindsey Scribner, both seniors, were named to the Second Team. Tazewell placed four players on the Honorable Mention list and Richlands had six on that same list.
