POCAHONTAS – A Tazewell man was killed and a passenger in his vehicle injured in an automobile accident Oct. 29.
Virginia State Police say the single vehicle accident occurred around midnight on route 644 just outside Pocahontas. Hubert Allen Owens, 31, was operating a 1985 Ford Mustang when he lost control, apparently overcorrected and ran off the shoulder of the road.
The car crossed the road, went over an embankment and caught fire. A passenger in the Owens vehicle was airlifted to Bristol Regional Medical Center.
