Marion police Monday afternoon had not charged the subject involved in Saturday’s all-night standoff with police, Marion Police Lt. Andrew Moss said.
Marion residents subscribing to the free Nixle community alert system received notice of the standoff early Sunday morning from the town’s information officer, Ken Heath.
The notice said police responded to a Shuler Park Lane trailer following a third-party call to Smyth County 911 about a male subject threatening self-harm.
Heath’s notice said officers “found the subject inside the home with a weapon, and the officers called in assistance from the Smyth County Sheriff's Department. After several hours of negotiation, the officers provided ‘less than lethal’ force to bring the subject outside the trailer, where he was taken into custody without further incident.”
Officials have not released the subject’s name.
