TAZEWELL – The last of three defendants in the attempted capital murder of a Tazewell County Sheriff’s Deputy was sentenced to 114 years Feb. 2.
Wallace Stearil Kinder had entered guilty pleas to two counts of robbery, three counts of use of a firearm and one count of conspiracy. Judge Keary R. Willaims suspended 84 of the 114 years leaving Kinder 30 years to serve.
Kinder, Scottie Stinson and Stinson’s sister, Tracy Marie Coxton were charged with robbery, use of a firearm, attempted capital murder, wearing a mask in public and other counts in connection with incidents in 2007. The three were part of a group that robbed two area convenience stores, shot Deputy Sheriff Eric Mullins and fled the area.
Stinson and Coxton are each serving life sentences for their roles in the robberies and the shooting. Coxton was convicted at a four day trial while Stinosn pleaded no contest.
