Burning ban goes into effect today (July 6)

A burning ban for Floyd County will go into effect as of Tuesday, July 6, at 6 p.m., Floyd County's Emergency Services Coordinator Ford Wirt said today.
Wirt said there should be no burning outdoors until further notice, since extreemely dry conditions exist and there are no immediate signs of substantial rain in the forecast.
The announcement was made in conjunction with the Va. Department of Forestry.
