Attendance was up at this year's Independence Day event in Floyd, said Susan Leonard, coordinator.
The event, which was held on July 3, is one of two major events sponsored by the Floyd County Merchants' and Businessmen's Association.
Saturday's celebration included several new activities for children and also a bingo tent. Vendors sold everything from sno cones to barbecue.
A fireworks show, made possible by local firemen, concluded the day.
