POUNDING MILL – A young Tazewell man is dead following an early morning accident on highway 460.
First Sgt. David Fowler of the Virginia State Police said Christopher Brandon Crigger,21, was operating a 2003 Dodge Pickup near Ab’s Easy Stop when he lost control and went off the roadway. Crigger apparently overcorrected and the vehicle overturned when he attempted to re-enter the highway from the median.
After going through the median and overturning, the truck slid across the east bound lane into the path of a tractor-trailer. The tractor trailer driven by J.R. Warner of North Manchester Indiana struck the pickup.
Crigger, who was traveling alone, was pronounced dead at the scene. Fowler said the report indicated he was wearing a lap belt and a seat belt. The accident is still under investigation by Trooper S.K. Tucker.
