From staff reports

Two Bland County residents were injured on Wednesday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Virginia 42 between Bland and Crandon.

According to Virginia State Police Trooper M.G. Russo, 21-year-old Joshua E. Harper of Bland was driving a 2006 Ford Taurus east on Route 42 at approximately 11 a.m. when he ran the vehicle off the right side of the road, overcorrected and lost control. The vehicle then rolled into a yard about 100 feet east of the Slide Mountain Road intersection and ended up on its top, the trooper said.

Both wearing seat belts, Harper and a passenger, his mother, Debbie, were taken by ambulance to Wythe County Community Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Joshua Harper was charged with reckless driving – failure to maintain control.
