Concerns to be aired Saturday about Sugar Grove school

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A Sugar Grove community meeting with Rye Valley District School Board representative Jessee Choate has been scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 11, at 3 p.m. in the gym at Sugar Grove Combined School.

The meeting, arising over concerns about the future of Sugar Grove Combined School, was announced on the Sugar Grove Community Facegook page. Choate confirmed Friday afternoon he will attend the meeting and said arrangements have been made for weekend access to the school gym.

In response to the community’s concerns, Choate said earlier this week there has been no mention of closing any school, although that option was on a list of possible actions the board could take to balance the budget.

Robinson said on two regional television news reports Wednesday closing schools has not been discussed and that action would be the last measure taken to cut costs.

Choate and Robinson confirmed they were scheduled to meet with a small group in Sugar Grove Friday evening.
