The GW Maroons wrestling team defeated Holston and Chilhowie in the season’s first competition in the Hogoheegee District.
The Maroons wrestled Chilhowie first and won by the score of 45-27. Austin Thomas won by decision over Chilhowie’s Levi Widener.
GW got pins from Landon Kime (125-lbs.), Coleman Dove (132-lbs.), Doug Williams (138-lbs.), Jake Lewis (170-lbs.), David Smith (182-lbs.), Jonathan Turpin (195-lbs.) and Chris Spencer (220-lbs.).
GW then crushed Holston 58-12. The Maroons got pins from Austin Thomas (145-lbs.) and Jake Lewis (160-lbs.). David Smith won a major decision (182-lbs.), and Jonathan Turpin won a 10-3 decision (195-lbs.).
